    Our teachers

    Summer Roller

Growing up in Rogers, Arkansas, Summer began her musical studies in piano at age 5 at Carrousel Piano Studio. At the age of 16 Summer began teaching alongside Betty and Miriam at Carrousel! Summer earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Family Studies Child Development with a minor in Music from Oklahoma Christian University. Summer continues her musical education and training by participating in the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) and the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA). Through these programs, she continually studies and strives to improve her teaching and playing abilities. In 2015 Summer Roller took over ownership of Carrousel Piano Studio, with the plans to stay in Rogers and continue offering music lessons to the Northwest Arkansas area.

    Miriam Harness

Miriam is a northwest Arkansas native who began music lessons at the age of 8. Her love for music led her to begin playing as the full-time church accompanist, playing for soloists, choirs, groups, and various other church functions. As her love of piano performance grew, so did her desire to teach. Miriam took on her first student while still in high school and has been teaching ever since. Her passion for teaching inspired her to earn the Music Teacher’s National Association Certification. This certification is received through university study in private piano studies in music, theory, history, pedagogy, and business management. Miriam is a Nationally Certified Teacher of MTNA and continues her education through state (ASMTA) and regional (NAMTA) music teachers associations. Miriam is currently the pianist at Grace Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas.

    Our story

    History of the Studio

Carrousel Piano Studio was founded by Betty Sutton in the early 70’s. At the time, Betty had not landed on an official name for her piano business, but was well known in the community for being the best! She served as the choir director at Rogers High School, where she took the choir all the way to State and National competitions, and served as musical director at Rogers Little Theatre (now Arkansas Public Theatre).

Betty and a colleague began teaching group lessons to younger students out of her home on Magnolia St. where she then named her studio Carrousel Fine Arts Studio. In 1985 Betty broke ground in her back lot where the studio stands today. In 1989 the studio was registered as Carrousel Piano Studio as an official business and has been a business in NWA ever since.

Where’d the name come from? Betty came up with the name Carrousel after frequently visiting Paris, where her late son lived. ‘Carrousel’ (as opposed to ‘Carousel’) is the French spelling of the word.
